Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts, which is much appreciated.

I have spent the past 6h or so with the Police, going through some of his personally belongings and to make a statement.

At this moment in time, the Police is not treating his death as suspicious, as it has all the hallmarks of accidental death.

I have been in contact with some of his family, including his son. I just came off the phone after a long chat with him.

I do not know what is going to happen yet, as a legal next of kin has not been identified. His son is assuming this duty based on conventional practices being the eldest child. However, all this may change if a will can be found.

I shall be involved in the funeral arrangement, and I shall respect the wishes of his children, mother and sister etc...

I shall keep you posted about on any updates as and when I get them.

Ray, thanks for putting our picture up. He was wearing my favourite shirt smile.png, thank you.   However, you could have cropped me out though tongue.png

With regard to the Christmas do, to be honest, I have not thought about it until now. If someone could take over the organisation then I'll be very grateful. He has a spreadsheet detailing who is having what, however, I do not have access to his PC at present, sorry! He has only booked a set number of places, and if we wish to increase this number, then we need to contact the Wheatsheaf asap. The room is certainly big enough to accommodate more people than he has originally booked I believe.

Better go, and I shall be in touch shortly.

Thanks again to everyone for your kind words and thoughts, they mean a great deal to me

Dora, Tigger phoned earlier to pass on this terrible news. Max will be sadly missed by all who met him. Our thoughts are with you and his family.
I was fortunate to meet Max on two occassions and both were very memorable for the right reasons. The first ...attempting to keep up with him on the Wessex 3 run (my first big run in Daisy) and then leading you all to the Eden project after the Oggy Run.

Much love

Emz and family xxx

Dora, anything u have on the christmas meal send over to me. I'm more than happy to look after it and make sure it goes ahead as Max would have liked. You have plenty of other things to worry about/take care of.

I can only reiterate what everyone else had said... it is truely sad to lose such a wonderful man and a true gent!!

My heart is with you Dora!

He was and always will be the run genius!!

I look back fondly to time spent on runs and especially the drive to and time spent at Mini United in Italy in 2005!

Just recieved a text from Ratty. I am completely shell shocked.

Max's enthusiasm and hunger for life will be sorely missed. I'll always remember Max for his spirited drives, off canter sense of humour and egalitarian approach to us all.

I met Max on my first Mini run in 2003 just after we took delivery of our first Cooper. Max, amongst others, meant that the MINI experience was all that more special for the feeling of a being part of a big extended family.

Nothing we can say can ease the pain Max's loved ones are feeling at the moment, but I echo everybody else's thoughts to Dora and Max's family at this time.

With love,

Dave & Liz

               Something for the weekend?

Thanks peeps for your kind thoughts.

It is hard for me at the mo, as I miss him so much

I know I had said in the past relocation to the south was the hardest of life events that I had experienced, however, this tops that one for certain!

John,

Thanks for agreeing to take over the organisation of the Christmas do. I suggest you start noting down who is having what in the Christmas do thread. Hope this makes sense.

Hello Dora,

John informed me last night over MSN; I am so sorry to hear what has happened and I am at a loss for words. I may not have known Max as well as others here but on the occasions I have met him, he was a top bloke welcoming non mini owners to SCNM since 2005.

He will be sadly missed.

Need something new here...this will do for now.

Dora

I can't believe it

I am sat here filling up as I type.

My heart goes out to you as does Marks.

Max was a great person to know and was always great fun to be around. The first time I met Max was during the round Britain run when they got lost on their way to Brighton, we sat along the seafront near Hove for a good few hours and then drove off to Bristol. I didn't know waht to expect when I first met him but he was a true gent and a good friend.

I know we never saw much of either of you over the last few years what with one thing and another but I always wondered what you were up to and it was good to see you both at South Downs last year.

If there is anything you would like us to do then please don't hesitate to contact us.

I am completely lost for words

BIG HUGS to you

Neil & Mark

Dear Dora, I didn't know Max but I have read all the posts on here and he sounded such a lovely man I wish I had the chance to do so. Words cannot really help at a time like this but I just hope you will get some comfort from all those who speak so well of him and those kind thoughts will help you get through the coming days. With love from a NMK member, Jane xx

DK, I know we had our differences but the good times far outweighed the troubled ones.

I remember SCNM in the very beginning, there were about 10 of us that met in a pub car park on the outskirts of Basingstoke. I can't remember exactly who was there, Dabe, Grings and Max were there I know. We had a blast and it gave us such a buzz that we planned more and more runs. Eventually it grew into the community you see now. That was all down to Max and his never ending enthusiasm and friendliness. SCNM may never have existed if it wasn't for him.

I will remember Max, and I will think of you Dora. With all my love and thoughts, please take care.

Chris
