While I was checking out if the Bournemouth Fireworks would be taking place again this year I came across the following event.

http:// www.bournemouth.co.u k/xxl/_lang/en/ _site/pleasure/ _area/beach/ _subArea/774929/ index.html

I believe this is the first time this event has happened in Bournemouth and was wondering if anyone would like to come along?

Having read the web site it looks like all the air displays get repeated each day with the red arrows flying on friday 3pm, Saturday 12 noon and Sunday at 3pm. This event is looking like a great weekend to spend it down at Bournemouth beach chilling out to air displays and various other ground activities. And the good thing is its all free.

I'm suggesting if anyone goes we attend the Saturday as they've got a big firework display planned that night!

So if your up for it just reply in here and I'll start organising a list and where to meet/park.

Attending Saturday
1. John
2. Lottie
3. Matt
4. Arron
5. Sharon

Maybe
1. Tracie
2. Dave and Michelle
3.

All, I'm picking up the offical programe tomorrow for the Air Show which will have the times that things are happening. Once I've got this I will post up in here so people can decide what they would like to do.

With regards to parking, they are running park and ride from littledown sports centre and kings park from what I've read. I'm hoping this will be confirmed in the offical program.

So watch this space for latest info sometime tomorrow.

I really think with nice wether forecast we need to get to town to park much earlier. I'm thinking picnic, chairs, rugs as it could be a wait to get a good spot to see the events? If you go to the tourist website it says the times of the fly-bys - i want to see the noisy vulcan

Yep I agree Lottie. I'm happy if people want to stop by my place and we then take 1 or two cars into town and split parking costs.

Was wondering if anyone would like to go to a resturant in the evening before the firworks for a meal?
Not sure where but I'm sure we can just find something in town to walk in and get something to eat.

Really looking forward to seeing the Vulcan as well. Last time I saw it was in Swindon early 90's.

Right then, went into town around 1pm and the usual car parks I use were almost all full. So weekend is going to get very busy for parking if it was this bad on a Thursday.

We have 3 park and ride sites to use which are the following but I'm suggesting against this. Reason being the last bus back to the cars is 8.30pm and means we will miss the fireworks at 10pm.

Kings Park - Yellow
Football Ground of AFC
Bournemouth (BH7 7AF)

Littledown Centre - Red
Littledown Centre
Chaseside, Bournemouth BH7 7DX

Bournemouth University - Blue
Fern Barrow, Talbot Campus
Poole BH12 5BB

Cost is £10 per car

According to my progamme the Air Displays start from Noon and go on till 4pm. Below is what we can expect when.

Noon - 1pm
Red Arrows and Folland GNAT Jet
Yakovlevs

1pm - 2pm
Navy Lynx
DC-6
Sea Vixen
King Air be200
Blue Eagles
Sea Hawk

2pm - 3pm
RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
The Blades - 4x extra 300 LP
Folland GNAT Jet
Tutor
Tucano T1

3pm - 4pm
Hawk T1
Team Guinot Wingwalk
Catalina
RAF Falcons

The Vulcan is meant to be flying but I'v heard from my Dad that it is grounded at the moment due to problems with the landing gear. They are hoping to fix it in time for Saturday so we will have to wait and see.

Now what time do people want to go into town and catch the action?
Bearing inmind parking will get very busy the longer we leave it and I suggest, if possible, car sharing to split the car parking for the day.

So post up your ideas and I'll make a final decision tomrrow.

I agree with the park and ride not being the best option.

I wondered if we get a taxi big enough for all of us from your house John it would be maybe £10 between us and they can drop us off nearby, especially if we have lots of stuff to take seeing as we might be there for some time e.g. chairs, snacks and stuff?

In terms of times i would say we shuld aim to be in town for 10:00 or earlier if possible to get a good spot?

Where are you thinking we should situate ourselves? beach, cliffs?

Festival actually kicks off at 10am so earlier would probably be better.

Taxi sounds like a much better idea although if we had a car parked in town we could use to to drop stuff off we don't need later in the day. Thinking if we go for a meal what do we do with chairs, etc?

Guess once we are done with the air show we could get a taxi back to my place to drop stuff off. Then pop back out for a meal somewhere and then hopefully be able to park in town for the fireworks later.

If people are happy getting a taxi from my place I say arrive by 9am. We can then get a taxi into town soon after that.

I'm going to charge my radios up tonight as they might come in handy if we get split up during the day.
