And to think your MINI is the first MINI I think of that is actually going to be well setup for the track

Yep my MINI will be setup well once I get the coilovers fitted. I still need to find a way of getting my exhaust sound tested to make sure it isn't over the limit for Castle Combe.

Dave c'mon man get your car ready - 6 weeks should be enough time?

John remember this is a full track day not just sessions so it's well worth the £199

I will have to see Max. If I can get the day off work and possibly get Hoang to come along and pay half I might go.

Do you know anywhere I can go to get my exhaust noise level tested as I don't want to pay the £199 to turn up and find my car is over the 100db limit. I'm running GTT manifold with decat and reroute pipe on standard exhaust (minus one silencer) and is very very noisey.

er.. when they say 100DbA at 1 metre and they ask you to rev to 4500 rpm just go to 4400?

I passed last time on 101DbA but a scooby on 125 was turned away.

Just go to any tuner company who should be able to do this for you.

Hope to see you there

Oy!!!!

Mine was first! Now she lives on inside the shell of Jons

You will be amazed at how much better it is Jon...

Noise wise, if in doubt, we can stick the CAT back in as its fooked anyway - it passed at Gwood at 96 with that setup and a JCW zorst...

Probably not I am afraid. I need a cheap airfield day first with some long instruction as the Tango-mobile is VERY different to drive to the MINI. Plus it tops out at 115 at the mo due to a low diff so It'll be a bit slow on the straights...

WOW what a day!!!!!

CC is definitely the best race track I've been on

Not as fast as Thruxton nor Bedford Autodrome but the most entertaining - with the knowledge that if you leave the track the armco and piles of tyres filled with concrete await you

Took the Porsche in the end as my MINI has a DSC fault which affects the engine performance that Woods in Salisbury have been unable to rectify.

Not as quick as my MINI up to 100mph (but then quicker to 155 than the MINI), the Porsche 944 S2 is perfectly well behaved on the track - no lift off oversteer, being almost perfectly balanced with a 50-50 weight distribution front-rear as the gearbox sits atop the rear axle...

Also a bit more roll from one side to the other through the chicanes than the MINI.  Well the suspension setup IS 20 years old.

Overall a highly entertaining day with the usual cohort of fast EVOs, very fast TVR and Noble M12 and the usual crop of furiously buzzing elises, exiges and lotus/caterhams.

It was dry though.  Now, wet would be scary!!!!!

100-110mph on the straights

Oh and I met Garry from Carmarthen thrashing his MCS Clubman   I have put him on to NewMINISeverns

Look out for the next one Thursday 27th October

I'll take the MINI if BMW can fix my DSC fault!

I'm glad you enjoyed the day Max shades.png, it sounds like it's fun to do a trackday wink.png. I should have a go at one of these to see what it's like.
